چکیده

Parity games are a powerful framework widely used to address fundamental questions in computer science. In the basic setting they consist of two-player turn-based games, played on directed graphs, whose nodes are labeled with priorities. Solving such a game can be done in time exponential in the number of the priorities (and polynomial in the number of states) and it is a long-standing open question whether a polynomial-time algorithm exists. Precisely this problem resides in the class UP ∩ co-UP. In this paper we introduce and solve efficiently concurrent multi-player parity games where the players, being existential and universal, compete under fixed and strict alternate coalitions. The solution we provide uses an extension of the classic Zielonka Recursive Algorithm. Precisely, we introduce an ad hoc algorithm for the attractor subroutine. Directly from this, we derive that the problem of solving such games is in PSpace. We also address the lower bound and show that the complexity of our algorithm is tight, i.e. we show that the problem is PSpace-hard by providing a reduction from the QBF satisfiability problem.

Extending Finite Memory Determinacy to Multiplayer Games

We provide several techniques to extend finite memory determinacy from some restricted class of games played on a finite graph to a larger class. As a particular example, we study energy parity games. First we show that under some general conditions the finite memory determinacy of a class of two-player win/lose games played on finite graphs implies the existence of a Nash equilibrium built fro...

Turn-Based Qualitative Solution of Concurrent Parity Games∗

We consider two-player concurrent games played on graphs, where at each state both players choose moves simultaneously and independently. We consider ω-regular winning conditions specified as parity objectives and study the qualitative winning mode, i.e., whether a player can win with probability arbitrarily close to 1 (limit-winning). We provide an efficient reduction from limit-winning concur...

Robustness of Structurally Equivalent Concurrent Parity Games

We consider two-player stochastic games played on a finite state space for an infinite number of rounds. The games are concurrent: in each round, the two players (player 1 and player 2) choose their moves independently and simultaneously; the current state and the two moves determine a probability distribution over the successor states. We also consider the important special case of turn-based ...

Trading Probability for Fairness

Behavioral properties of open systems can be formalized as objectives in two-player games. Turn-based games model asynchronous interaction between the players (the system and its environment) by interleaving their moves. Concurrent games model synchronous interaction: the players always move simultaneously. Infinitary winning criteria are considered: Büchi, co-Büchi, and more general parity con...

Timed Parity Games: Complexity and Robustness

We consider two-player games played in real time on game structures with clocks and parity objectives. The games are concurrent in that at each turn, both players independently propose a time delay and an action, and the action with the shorter delay is chosen. To prevent a player from winning by blocking time, we restrict each player to strategies that ensure that the player cannot be responsi...
